How long have you been in construction?
Let’s just say… it’s been a while. I’ve been in the construction industry for about 45 years. It’s been a major part of my life, and over the years, I’ve had the chance to take on a wide range of roles and experiences that have shaped who I am today.
What has your career path looked like?
I’ve had a pretty diverse path in construction. I’ve worked as a field engineer, superintendent, estimator, and project manager. For about 15 years, I also ran my own roofing company, which taught me a lot about leadership, business, and the value of hard work. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Construction from Louisiana State University and later went on to get my MBA from Florida State University. That blend of field experience and formal education has really helped me approach projects from both a practical and strategic standpoint.
What is your favorite part about working in construction?
Without a doubt, it’s the relationships. After all these years, what keeps me going is the people I work with—teammates, subcontractors, clients. Building something together creates a bond that goes beyond the jobsite. There’s nothing like seeing a team come together to overcome challenges and deliver something we’re all proud of. Those connections and that shared success make this career incredibly fulfilling.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I like to play golf whenever I get the chance. I also stay busy with a steady stream of “Honey Do” tasks—there’s always a project or two waiting for me at home. Between the two, I don’t sit still for long!
