What is your favorite part about working in construction?
My favorite part of working in construction is being part of projects of all sizes—from small houses to multimillion-dollar developments. I enjoy the challenge and the reward that come with each one. One of the best parts is meeting new people and getting to know them while working side by side. You really build strong connections out on the jobsite, and I’ve made a lot of lasting friendships that way. There’s also always something new to learn. No two projects are the same, and that constant learning is something I truly value.
What types of projects or experiences shaped your approach to leading on the jobsite?
Back in 2000, I was a 5th-term apprentice—just 20 years old—when someone handed me a full set of blueprints for a house. That was a defining moment for me, and I’ve never looked back. Over the years, I’ve built everything from houses to restaurants, hotels, and everything in between. Each of those jobs taught me something new and helped shape my leadership skills. For me, being a good leader means constantly learning, being willing to teach others, and always showing respect for the other trades on site. That respect and teamwork go a long way in building a successful project.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my free time, I love spending time with my family—whether we’re camping, fishing, hunting, working on the family farm, or just enjoying a movie night at home. I’ve got two boys, ages 6 and 8, so there’s never a dull moment… and honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
